What does a Celebrant do? Do I really need one?

How soon can we get married?
I am a commonwealth registered marriage celebrant, as such I undergo rigorous teachings and answer to the Attorney General's Office. I abide by a strict code of practice and the laws of Australia. We can get Uncle Joe involved in the wedding ceremony but without a commonwealth registered celebrant or a religious minister you won't have a legally binding union. So essentially I oversee everything ceremony related to ensure you are legally married.
Without me it's just a beautiful party.
We can meet anywhere from
18 months - 1 month before your desired wedding date. Legally some of the paperwork needs to lodged at least one calendar month prior to the wedding taking place. The more time up our sleeve to create the ceremony of your dreams - the better.
What information is needed for the legal paperwork?
To get us started on the legal paperwork I require the following from you and your fiance`.
Please note I do not need to keep these items merely sight the originals and sometimes make photograph copies.
Proof of Birth - I require one of the following for both parties
Original Birth Certificate
Passport
Photo ID - I require one of the following for both parties
- Australian Drivers Licence
- Passport
- Proof of age card
- Student card (with photo)
Can you help me write my vows?
OF COURSE - This is what I'm here for! I create bespoke wedding ceremonies, we will work together to create the perfect wedding vows and all.
How much does it cost?
My rates are between $1000 - $1200 inc GST
For this you get a bespoke crafted wedding ceremony that is completely reflective of you and your incredible and unique relationship. We can add as many or as few bells and whistles as you like. This day is about you and I'm here for it!
What if I've been married before?
Do you just do weddings?
As long as you’re not still legally married it’s no drama!
If your previous marriage dissolved via divorce I will need to see the relevant Certificate of Divorce or if you have been widowed I shall require to see the Official Death Certificate of your spouse.
If any of this documentation is from another country or in another language don’t fret, I’ll sight what you have and we can take it from there.
